Shelter Rental Information

Reserve a Park Shelter

2022 reservations are closed for the season.

2023 reservations will be available on the first business day of the new year.

NOTE: Electrical supply for each shelter (excluding open air): 120 Volts, 20 Amps circuits

Reservations for Park Shelters can be made online or in-person. To reserve online, please go here. To reserve in-person, stop by our office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please call the Parks office. Park Shelters are available for rent from the first weekend of May through the last weekend of September, weather permitting.

Canceling Reservations: Please, call the Parks Department at 920-232-1960 to cancel a reservation. Cancelations must be made at least 14 days in advance of the reservation date in order to receive a refund.

If you have any issues on the weekend during your reservation, please call the on-call Parks employee at 920-420-1803 or 920-420-2135.

Park Shelter reservations for next year will begin on the first business day of January.


SHELTER #1

Shelter #1

Located at the north end of the park. Shared restrooms, interior and exterior electrical outlets, drinking fountain, service sink, refrigerator, picnic tables, serving tables, two horseshoe pits, volleyball poles, and bean bag toss. Seating for approximately 100 people. Building with a large canopy roof and a small inside area. There are five duplex receptacle plug-ins. Playground equipment includes a climbing unit and slides. An ash receptacle is available at the shelter from May through September. Eight, 8' picnic tables and three, 8' serving tables. View map of Shelter #1

Shelter #2

Located on the west side of the park near ponds and the outdoor fitness equipment. Shared restrooms, interior and exterior electrical outlets, drinking fountain, service sink, refrigerator, picnic tables, serving tables, two horseshoe pits, and volleyball poles (no net). Seating for approximately 100 people. Building with a large canopy roof and a small inside area. There are five duplex receptacle plug-ins. An ash receptacle is available at the shelter from May through September. Eight, 8' picnic tables and three, 8' serving tables. View map of Shelter #2

Located across from the baseball diamonds. Shared restrooms, limited exterior electrical outlets, drinking fountain, archery range, volleyball poles, and bean bag toss. Comfortable seating for approximately 30-50 people. Small building with a canopy roof – no inside area. There are two duplex receptacles. An ash receptacle is available at the shelter from May through September. Playground equipment includes a climbing unit, tire swing, and slides. Three or four, 8' picnic tables and one, 8' serving table. View map of Shelter #3

Located on the east side of the park, just north of the southern roundabout, close to the sport court. Shared restrooms, limited exterior electrical outlets, drinking fountain, horseshoe pits, volleyball poles, and basketball court. Comfortable seating for approximately 30-50 people. Small building with a canopy roof - no inside area. There are two duplex receptacles. An ash receptacle is available at the shelter from May through September. TERMS OF RESERVATION FOR WINNEBAGO COUNTY PARK SHELTERS

1. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTACT PERSON: a) The individual designated as the Contact Person on the attached Reservation & Use Permit must be at least 18 years or older in order to reserve a shelter. Throughout the event, the Contact Person is held responsible for the preservation of order, noise control and shelter clean-up. In addition, while occupying the shelter, the Contact Person is to have in their possession the Reservation & Use Permit. b) Use of the county park shelters is subject to municipal and county ordinances and can be terminated at the discretion of the local municipal police dept. or County Parks Dept. if any term of the Reservation & Use Permit is violated or when public safety is threatened.

2. SHELTER LOCK CODES (applies to Community Park Shelters #1 & #2): Call the Parks Dept. the week of your shelter rental to get the lock code. The Parks Dept. phone number is 920-232-1960. Shelters #3 and #4 do not require a lock code.

3. CANCELLATION POLICY: Notices given at least 14 days in advance get a full refund, 13 days or less, no refund.  Cancellation must be made by the contact person.

4. ACCESS & PARK HOURS: a) No setup or storage of items is allowed at the shelter prior to the rental date b) Restrooms, playgrounds and parking lots are to remain available for use by the general public for the duration of the reservation. c) Community Park hours: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. 

5. ARRIVAL: a) The Parks Dept. requests that a member of the rental group occupy the shelter facilities by 12:00 p.m. on the day of your reservation. The Parks Dept. offers no assurances that a reservation can be retained if a representative of the group is not present by that time.

6. PARKS EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE: a) Renters are responsible for all aspects involving the setup and running of their event. If immediate assistance is required, contact the on-call Parks employee. On weekends the on-call employee is available up until noon. Note that a minimum 2-hour call-in pay will be assessed renters requiring assistance (i.e. resetting of breakers).

7. ELECTRICAL SERVICES: a) Each shelter offers a limited number of duplex receptacles. Caution is advised when using shelter electrical services as each duplex receptacle is on a 20 amp circuit and can be easily overloaded (max. 1 coffee pot per receptacle).

8. ALCOHOL, GRILLS & TENTS: a) Shelters are not intended for use in holding public dances or beer parties. Groups having keg beer must have a Keg Beer Permit and limit consumption to persons 21 years of age or older b) Renters must obtain Parks Dept. permission in order to conduct pig or corn roasts that require grills 3 feet or more in length. c) Tents with max. of 4 inch stakes are permitted only in designated areas when the renter has obtained a valid Use Permit. Contact the Parks Dept. for location of designated areas. Tents with stakes longer than 4 inches require a permit. Tents may only be setup on the day of the reservation and must be removed the same day. Charges will be assessed for damages incurred during setup or removal of tents.

9. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES: a) Glass beverage containers are prohibited on all Parks Dept. properties. b) With the exception of nonprofit organizations, no private group or organization is allowed to sell or market items on any Parks Dept. property other than the Sunnyview Expo Center. Nonprofit organizations intending to sell or market items during a shelter reservation are required to obtain prior written permission and acquire the necessary insurance coverages one month prior to their event. c) Parking of vehicles in designated areas only. Parking on the grass or road is not allowed! d) Smoking is not allowed in any of the Parks Dept. shelter facilities. e) Dogs are only allowed in the Dog Park (off leash) and on the shared use path (on leash) with the exception of service animals.  Any other pets are not allowed within the Community Park. f) The feeding of wild animals in any county park, is strictly prohibited. g) Renters shall not remove benches, tables or other type of fixtures from any shelter unless prior permission is obtained. h) Thumb tacks, nails or similar fasteners are not to be used on any surfaces.

10. GARBAGE REMOVAL & RECYCLING: a) Renters are responsible for placing all debris in the waste receptacles available in close proximity to the facilities. It is recommended that renters bring along extra trash bags. b) Recycling containers are available for aluminum cans, plastic and cardboard.

11. CLEAN-UP & SECURING OF SHELTER: a) All supplies and equipment brought in by the renter must be removed and the renter must completely vacate the property by 11 p.m. of the shelter rental date. All shelter facilities are expected to be neat, clean and damage free at the conclusion of the reservation. If additional clean-up and/or repairs are required as a result of the reservation, the labor and material costs will be charged to the renter. b) Apart from restrooms, before leaving the site renters are to shut off all lights and proceed to lock and secure the shelter facilities including waste container (dumpster).
