Substance Use Harm Reduction Programs:
Narcan, LifePoint Syringe Service, and test strips for Fentanyl are free of charge at the Winnebago County Public Health Oshkosh location Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of observed holidays.
Narcan
Narcan (Naloxone) is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids. Whether you use opioids, love someone who does, or just care about the people in your community, it's important to be prepared if you encounter someone who is experiencing an opioid overdose.
If you are someone who uses opiates alone, please call 1-800-696-1996 or visit neverusealone.com, a toll-free nationwide overdose prevention, detections, crisis response and reversal lifeline services for people who use drugs while alone. Volunteer peer-run call center operators are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. No stigma. No judgment. Just love!
Narcan Quick Facts:
-Narcan is the nasal spray version of Naloxone
-Narcan is a drug that blocks the harmful effects of opioids on the brain. It is specific to opioids. If opioids are not involved in the overdose, it will not cause any harm.
-Narcan is simple to use. It usually starts working within 2-3 minutes and lasts from 30 to 90 minutes.
-If you suspect an overdose: Call 911. Give Narcan. Begin CPR/rescue breathing. Learn about risk factors for an overdose and how to recognize when someone is experiencing an overdose.

-You can get FREE Narcan, Fentanyl Test Strips, and training at the Winnebago County Public Health Department during business hours OR 24/7 in the Public Health Vending Machines.

LifePoint Syringe Service
LifePoint is a syringe services program aimed at reducing the transmission of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other potential harms associated with injection drug use. Winnebago County Public Health is a satellite location for Vivent Health's LifePoint program. LifePoint is free and available during business hours at the Oshkosh location.
Public Health Vending Machines
The Public Health Vending machines are a free, 24/7 community resource with locations in Neenah and Oshkosh. Prevention kits such as gun locks, Narcan, Fentanyl Testing Strips, DETERRA drug deactivation, menstrual products, basic needs kits, and more are individually stocked in discreet brown boxes.
